Chicago Blues Festival

Smokey Smothers and Elvin BishopChicago. Just the name is synonomous with the electric blues, and this event always lives up to the name. Highlights of Friday include Dietra Farr, who was just nominated for the Les Trophees France Blues awards for best international blues chanteuse.

Henry Butler and Vasti Jackcon followed, bringing a strong N' awlins piano flavor to the evening, as Henry exhorted the crowd to "Go to the Mardi Gras"! Vasti Jackson, whom I had the leasure of seeing on this very stage with the legendary Katie Webster, has certainly retained his guitar chops. Ending the evening was the Elvin Bishop group, joined by Henry Butler, Smokey Smothers, and a St. Louisian on trombone - Ed Early. 'Little Red Rooster' allowed this blues powerband to really shine!
